About your MACA membership

The Miskwabi Area Community Association (MACA) serves residents and cottagers around Long, Miskwabi, Negaunee, and Wenona Lakes. For a modest $30 annual membership fee, you get a lot of value. MACA has an active and involved Board of Directors that help promote aquatic, cultural and other pursuits for the benefit of our members. MACA also strives to maintain and improve the quality of the environment around our lakes. In addition to news regarding topical events and key issues, conveyed via MACA's regular newsletters or periodic emails, other benefits of membership include:

  • participation in the July Annual General Meeting, and having an opportunity to hear from MACA's board, fellow members, local politicians, and to be informed by expert guest speakers on various topics of interest. A barbecue following the AGM also enables you to mingle with fellow members;

  • research and lobbying into various areas of interest and concerns, especially relating to the health of our lakes;

  • an ecologically friendlier environment resulting from MACA-initiated events such as water testing and reporting, cleanup weekends, loon-nest installations, and more;

  • the chance to meet and chat with fellow cottagers at the annual Wine and Cheese Party in late summer;

  • an opportunity to participate in our annual photo contest;

  • other MACA initiatives, including consultations and exchange of information with other Cottagers' Associations and the Federation of Ontario Cottagers Associations (FOCA), on issues of mutual interest;

  • members also receive a MACA membership plaque for their driveway, and a sticker each year confirming their membership.
