Safe Boating
Enjoying our lakes together
We have included a draft of our Boater’s Guide for your reference
As a considerate boater, I will:
Always operate my watercraft safely, according to all applicable laws
Ensure that anyone operating my powered watercraft is of the appropriate age and has a valid Pleasure Craft Operator’s card
Reduce my speed to 10 km/h or less within 30 metres of shore in accordance with the law, which includes the narrows on Long Lake
Be aware of my watercraft’s wake at different speeds, and make every effort to minimize the impact of my wake on the shoreline, docks, other watercraft, wildlife, and people
Carry all required safety equipment on my watercraft, including lifejackets/PFDs and appropriate lighting
Follow the law with respect to towing people on skis, wakeboards, and inflatables, including having an observer onboard at all times
Not operate any watercraft while impaired by alcohol or drugs, and will not allow anyone to consume alcohol or drugs on my watercraft
Be respectful of others and not create excessive noise or disrupt the peaceful enjoyment of our lakes
